Let’s do kids friendly recipe for a change shall we?
A quick and easy, less spicy toddler recipe of fish bajji is always a hit among kids.Cubed pieces of fish fillet are dipped in a spiced gram flour batter and deep fried till golden and served with ketchup on the side. This is an appropriate kids party food that can be made quickly and will always be a hit among kids since its flaky, less spicy and crispy.
I have used basa fish fillets for this recipe , but feel free to use any white fish fillets like haddock, cod or tilapia. Will soon post the adult friendly version of this recipe. Keep checking this spot for the recipe.
INGREDIENTS
Serves – 4-5
- Basa fish – 2 fillets.
- Gram flour – ½ cup
- Paprika / Kashmiri red chilli powder – ½ tsp-1 tsp
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Salt – to taste
- Water/Soda water – to make the batter
- Oil – to deep fry
METHOD

1. Cube the basa fillets into appropriate bite sized pieces.

2. Mix together gram flour, red chilli powder/paprika, turmeric powder and salt.

3. Add water/soda slowly to make a thick yet flowing batter.

4.Dip the cubed fish pieces in the batter one by one and deep fry till golden and crispy.

5. Serve hot with some ketchup on the side.
NOTES
- Adding soda water gives an extra crispiness to the bajji/fritters. Feel free to skip it and use plain water instead, if you are uncomfortable using soda water for your kids
- My kid prefers spicy fritters so have given a range for the quantity of the chilli powder to be added to the batter. Adjust it as per your kids preference.
