Happy New Year – with my Chicken Patties

Hey everyone!

I hope you all are doing well and had a great time partying for new years. Oh and that reminds me, Happy New Year everyone. I know I am super late with the wishes, but the lazy me stopped me.So my new year resolution this year is to be more active here and fingers crossed, I hope I am. What I really want to do this year is, post every week for the rest of the year. So you guys will be seeing frequent posts around here. Do check them out.

And here goes my first post for this year. So this recipe is for Chicken patties that can be used in burgers.

You all must be wondering, what’s the big deal about this patty? How is it different from the one’s which we get inside burgers? Well this patty is made to suit the Indian taste buds. I have had my share of burgers before at different places, Five Guys being my favourite so far. Their burger patties are straightforward simple with simple seasoning. But I can’t have them often attributing to my Indian taste buds which always seek the bang from chillies. So in order to please our taste buds , I made this version of chicken patty for our burgers. Home made, too simple and tasty as well.

So can we just jump into this recipe?

INGREDIENTS

Makes – 6-7 Large patties

  • Chicken – 500 gms, Boneless and cubed
  • Onion – 1 medium, roughly chopped.
  • Green chillies – 4- 5 roughly chopped.
  • Ginger – 2 tbsp chopped.
  • Garlic – 5-6 cloves.
  • Bread – 1 slice (white or brown).
  • Red chilli flakes – 1tsp.
  • Pepper – 1 tsp, coarsely crushed or powdered.
  • Cumin powder – 1 tsp.
  • Salt – to taste.
  • Coriander – 2 tbsp, finely chopped.
  • Oil – to pan fry.

METHOD

1. In a processor jar take the onions, green chilli, garlic, ginger, bread slice and chicken.

2. Grind to a coarse mixture and tip the whole thing in a mixing bowl.

3. Add the salt, red chilli flakes, pepper powder, cumin powder, finely chopped coriander and mix well.

4. Heat oil in a pan. Shape the patties to desired size and put on a pan.

5.Fry on each side till well done.

6. Assemble the patties inside the burger along with other fix-ins and serve.

NOTES

  1. The whole mixture should be ground without any water. Grind in batches scraping the sides of the processor.
  2. If needed you can add in some toasted , crushed coriander seeds and also some lime juice if you want the tangy taste.
  3. Adjust the chilli and pepper quantities if giving to your kids. I used the spicy variety of chilli for the flakes.
